Are You Fake? Am I Fake?

This was a scary question to ask myself….⁣

But yesterday, I was reminded of a message that came to me in one of my client sessions about being true and authentic to self:⁣

“If you are not being heard, seen and known as YOURSELF, then (unintentionally) you are being heard, seen and known as an impostor.”⁣

Think about it. Would you rather be known and possibly hated for being YOU? Or seen and known and “loved” for being someone YOU ARE NOT? ⁣

⁣Isn’t it fascinating how and why we as humans go to the extreme of “hiding” core, essential parts of ourselves – our opinions, values, beliefs and decisions… ⁣

… out of FEAR? ⁣

frown fear of being judged⁣
cry fear of being disliked⁣
frown fear of being rejected⁣
cry fear of being abandoned⁣

This is understandable as it has served our species to cultivate and value “belongingness and connection” for us to survive and evolve. ⁣

Our primitive brain is wired to think that rejection = death. ⁣

Even in the current times, to a certain extent, it is “okay” to have these concerns to have healthy, harmonious participation in our society as we are social creatures.⁣

IT STOPS BEING OKAY WHEN:⁣

  • pleasing others become more important than expressing your TRUTH. ⁣
  • you feel stuck and unable to “trust” your own decisions because you feel unsafe in listening to your inner guidance. ⁣
  • you feel paralyzed and unable to follow your true desires nor pursue your dreams to not “disappoint” others.⁣

I have felt all these before… which is why I celebrate, that some of my deepest core values now are…

  • Honesty
  • Authenticity
  • Truthfulness
  • Integrity

I want to remind you…⁣

THAT YOU ARE A UNIQUE GIFT IN THIS WORLD. ⁣

By not being TRUE TO YOURSELF ⁣

  • you are robbing people of the chance to interact, get to know and appreciate the real you, preventing real, meaningful and deep your connections and relationships.

By not LETTING YOUR TRUE GIFTS ⁣

  • you are depriving yourself of a fulfilling, purpose-inspired life. ⁣

You are not serving anyone (yourself and others) by being someone else aside from the best version of yourself. ⁣

So today, I ask myself and invite you to do the same…⁣
“In what ways am I not being true to myself and showing up as an impostor?”⁣

Hopefully, NONE. ⁣wink
